Kuan Yin (Kwan Yin, Quan Yin) is the Goddess of Compassion. She is known to hear the sounds/cries of the world.
When I began to carve this sculpture, I started without an idea of the end result. In this case, a flowing figure emerged and I knew it was to be Kuan Yin. I was surprised that She appeared to be pregnant and I let it be so. I realized that this is exactly what the world needs…the Birth of Compassion.
