When we live in fearless consciousness and an openness to the consistency of change, we will find ourselves often at the threshold of a new adventure. This figure, who is about to enter a portal, is acknowledging and honoring that a change is taking place. It is a brave act in that She does not know what lies ahead. In fact, it appears that there is a steep edge and nothing on the other side. This rite of passage, from what was to what will be, is taken in an act of faith. Even if there is nothing on the other side, there will be something that has not yet been imagined.

Medium: Figure is carved mahogany with copper leafing. Portal is carved butternut, oil stain and copper metal powder rubbed into clear top coat of varnish. Magnets hold the Figure in place, which allows the Figure to both enter and exit.
